Olive Tree Restaurant, Camino del Paellero 4, Moraira - Teulada 03724. Tel: (96) 649 06 55
When The Olive Tree first opened in Moraira in 1995. It is located just off the Moraira to Calpe coast road about 3 km from the centre of Moraira. Karen O’Neill runs the The Olive Tree, and Karen has built a thriving restaurant with an innovative menu at an affordable price that brings together the best of traditional and modern cuisine. Karen also owns The Olive Deli in Moraira’s main street where there is an economically-priced menu of the day plus a variety of hot and cold dishes to eat in or take away.
There is no a la carte at The Olive Tree, instead you can choose from the restaurant’s set price menu that changes seasonally. You can enjoy a very reasonable three-course meal plus half a bottle of wine per person with a choice of starters, main courses and desserts.
From the designer interior will have fresh flowers decorating the modern bar area, high quality linen on the tables, giving an ambience of quiet luxury.
Typical starters might include Thai fishcakes served with a sweet chili dip, warm Cajun-spiced strips of chicken set on a roasted cherry tomato and onion salad or roasted red onion tart served with crumbled goat’s cheese and salad. They were all superbly presented and delicious.
Main courses can include fillet steak, grilled liver with bacon
and mash, oven-roasted cod with mussels and garlic. All served with fresh, al
dente vegetables and sautéed potatoes.
Puddings might be lemon sorbet with vodka, Malteser Magic (ice-cream, Baileys liqueur, cream and Maltesers), or a variety of cheeses served with a peach chutney.
The only criticism we had was that the staff seemed more intent to chat to regular customers, than to concern themselves with being pleasant to us new faces.
