We have tried this restaurant a number of times, and have never been really happy with the results. It is close to the port, and in a pedestrianised area, beside the Pescador Restaurant. The Del Mar is entirely an outdoor restaurant, you cannot sit inside, as there is no inside to sit in.! So you would probably only want to try this on a sunny lunchtime.
They seem to have a problem with pricing. And you end up with a bill a lot bigger than you had expected. For example a big notice board appears to offer "Tapas for 4€", but closer inspection reveals that this is 4.95€ plus Vat (the .95 and plus vat are written skillfully so small that you do not actually notice them) , so your 4€ tapas comes with a bill for 5.30€. This carries on throughout the menu, so the final bill will be around 25% more than you were expecting.
Also in this vein they offer a fixed price lunch menu on their boards, but do not offer it to you when you sit down, and it takes some perseverance to get it if you want it. It appears to be 14€ for a 3 course lunch but is 14.95€ plus vat, in other words 16€ a head not 14€.
The lunch is very good with such delicacies as clams, home made pate, sea bream, whole Lemon Sole, Fillet of Sea Bass & Pan Fried Scallops. And round it off with Milk Chocolate & Orange Mousse, Tiramisu ice cream or Banoffi pie. We had one bottle of house wine with the set lunch and were surprised when the bill came to 60€ for what I thought were two 14€ lunches and a bottle of house wine (oh and they point out that service is NOT in capitals included). They had managed to charge us for 2 bottles of house wine, as well as the plus vat and so on. The waiter did not even offer an apology for the overcharging on the wine.
You might fare better, the location is very pleasant on a warm sunny afternoon.
